Floppy’s Phonics
We would like you to start your day with some phonics. You can practice your speed sounds every day by following the links on our class pages.
Red group – Today we would like you to look at the letter group ‘air’ as in hair. Ask a grown up to write this list of words. hair, air, chair, pair, stairs. Use your phonic knowledge to read the words. Now ask a grown up to read the words so you can write them. Listen carefully to the sounds in the words. Can you put one of the words into a sentence?
Blue group – Today we would like you to look at the sound ‘dge’ as in bridge. Ask a grown up to write this list of words. bridge, edge, badge, fridge, sledge. Use your phonic knowledge to read the words. Now ask a grown up to read the words so you can write them. Listen carefully to the sounds in the words
Yellow group – Today we would like you to look at the sound ‘ck’ as in duck. Ask a grown up to write this list of words. duck, sock, pack, sack. With your grown up use your phonic knowledge to read the words and have a go at copying the words.
Remember, say the sound, read the word.
Maths
Red Group- Ask a grown up to draw a ladybird in your workbook. Add 4 spots on one side. Now you are going to double 4. Add 4 spots to the other side. How many altogether?
Repeat this with 1 spot, 2 spots, 3 spots and 5 spots. What do you get when you double those numbers?
Challenge- Jordan makes 6 cupcakes for her class but she needs to make more. There are double that number of children in her class. How many cupcakes does she need in total? You can draw the cupcakes to help you.
