Hello Monkeys and Elephants,
We hope that you enjoyed thinking about making wishes yesterday. Remember to complete the activity that matches the coloured sticker on the front of your work pack.
Remember to share your reading book or another story every day.
Floppy’s Phonics
We would like you to start your day with some phonics. You can practice your speed sounds every day by following the links on our class pages.
Red group – Today we would like you to look at the letter group ‘oi’ as in oil. Ask a grown up to write this list of words. oil, coin, foil, join, spoil. Use your phonic knowledge to read the words. Now ask a grown up to read the words so you can write them. Listen carefully to the sounds in the words. Can you put one of the words into a sentence?
Blue group – Today we would like you to look at the sound ‘th’ as in this. Ask a grown up to write this list of words. thumb, the, thin, thick. Use your phonic knowledge to read the words. Now ask a grown up to read the words so you can write them. Listen carefully to the sounds in the words
Yellow group – Today we would like you to look at the sound ‘c as in cat. Ask a grown up to write this list of words. cat, cot, cap, can. With your grown up use your phonic knowledge to read the words and have a go at copying the words.
Remember, say the sound, read the word.

Literacy
We reached the end of the Magic Train Ride. Where will your magic ticket take you?
Red – Describe the land where your magic ticket has taken you. Remember to use your phonics to spell words and use adjectives to describe what the land looks like and what is there. It can be anywhere you want. You could even make up your own land!
Children in red group can write their words and sentence independently.
Remember use your phonics to sound out the words you need, use your tricky word tree for words that do not sound out and remember finger spaces.
Blue – Describe the land where your magic ticket has taken you. What does it look like and what is there? Remember to use your phonics to spell words. It can be anywhere you want. You could even make up your own land!
Children in blue group are getting good with their writing but will need some support. Remember use your phonics and listen to the sounds in the words you need and have a really good go with your letter formation.
Yellow – Tell a grown up where your magic ticket has taken you. Describe what it looks like and what is there. Get your grown up to help you write a sentence about the land that your magic ticket has taken you to.
Children in yellow group will need you to write the word so they can copy the writing.
Maths
Red & Blue– Play the game Race to 20 with a grown up
Each player will need a number line to 20 plus counters / blocks to place on the numbers as you race up your number line. If you have not got enough counters/ blocks you could move one item the correct amount of jumps along the number line.
Take turns to roll a dice. If you roll 1-5 collect the corresponding counters/ blocks to place on your number line. If you roll a 6 go back to the start. The first person to fill their number line to 20 is the winner.
Yellow – Use five soft objects.. Ask your child to throw them into a hoop (you can mark a circle out with chalk if you do this activity outside or make a circle with a piece of string/wool)
How many items land inside the hoop? How many land outside? How could you record your results?
What if you had 4 bean bags or 3 bean bags?
Thank you.
