Home Learning 1.5.20

Friday 1st May 2020

Hello Crocodiles,

Happy Friday! Remember to share a book and a cuddle with a loved one from your household today!

Here are today’s home learning activities:

PSED- Managing feelings and emotions.

Can you ask your child to pull a happy face in the mirror? Can you repeat this whilst naming the emotions- sad, angry, worried, okay. You can model each facial expression first.

Can you ask your child to tell you what makes them happy/sad/angry/worried?

This should give your child an opportunity to share their feelings. It is helpful to explain that all feelings are normal and we may experience them for different reasons. Explain to your child that it is important and helpful to talk about our feelings.

Explain who is there to help at home if they are feeling sad/ angry/ worried? And who is there at school- teachers, learning mentors, friends. Please emphasise that a lot of the time we can just feel ‘okay’.

Managing our feelings and talking about our emotions is incredibly important to teach young children (especially at a time like this).

Understanding the World

When you go on your daily exercise today can you make sure to turn your listening ears on first. I want to see what sounds you can hear as you walk with your family.

Use the template below to see if you hear the objects, animals and creatures on your walk/bike ride. Remember to stay safe.

Have a lovely weekend!

Love from Miss Crossley
