Values
We put our children first and value all our children as individuals. We treat them with respect and endeavour to keep our children safe, promoting a sense of health and wellbeing, equipping our children with the necessary skills for life. Teaching our pupils to have core values is integral to what we do and is embedded in our broad and balanced curriculum.
As a school community we have consulted with our Governors, Staff and Pupils to develop a set of values that we feel are essential in preparing our children to become confident and respectful members of society.
We want our children to be honest and show kindness to others.
We want our children to be responsible and respect others regardless of their age, gender, religion, race or ability.
We want our children to have excellent behaviour in all situations.
We want or children to develop life long friendships.
We want our children to be polite and helpful.
Above all we want our children to be ambitious and achieve the best they can both in and out of school.

Ethos
At Purston we believe that ‘every child deserves the best we can give’. We have high expectations of all children and aspire for them to achieve academically, socially and emotionally and ‘be the best they can be.’
It is our philosophy to promote a child centered environment focusing on learning through first hand experiences, enjoyment and fun. We pride ourselves in being a warm, friendly and inclusive school and are described as ‘a very caring, cohesive community’ where children are nurtured and valued.
At Purston we aim to:
- Provide a stimulating, broad and balanced activity based education for all with high quality teaching and learning.
- Provide quality experiences, ensuring all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
- Develop enquiring minds, enabling children to acquire the necessary skills, attitudes, concepts and knowledge needed for a rapidly changing world.
- Provide opportunities for children to use their initiative and become independent learners.
- Treat children as individuals, offering experiences and provision that is appropriate to their age, needs, ability and stage of development.
- Create a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment, one built on mutual respect and where children feel happy, valued and safe.
- Encourage an enjoyment of life-long learning.
- Develop positive attitudes helping children grow into responsible young people who can make positive contributions to society.
